Nevus
There are 2 types of nevus: Cogenital or Acquired
- Congenital nevomelanocytic nevus:
Around 1% of the infant will suffer from this kind of nevus, it appears at the skin surface just after the infant was born. The size of this nevus is quite big (normally excess 1cm), the nevus is not itchy. The nevus will be in lighter to darker brown color, sometimes appear in 2 both colors. Its shape will be either in circle or oval with clear boundary. The surface of the nevus will be either smooth or raised and can appear to all parts of the body. - Acquired nevomelanocytic nevus:
This kind of nevus is caused by heredity, damaged of ultraviolent ray or hormonal influences. Similar to the Congenital nevomelanocytic nevus, the shape of this nevus is circle or oval which can appear to all part of the body but the size is relatively small (normally less than 1cm).
Treatment:
Congenital or Acquired moles can be removable. There are many types of mole removal method nowadays, the beauty centre will use corrosive chemical to "burn" away the moles. Due to the difficulty in mastering the diffusion for the liquid medicine, it will easily leave a scar after the mole removal.
Carbon dioxide Laser (CO2) can oxidize the pigment cell in a safe and effective way, besides the chance of leaving the scar is lower in compare to use with the corrosive chemical. After the treatment, the treated area will form a crust and the crust will come off automatically. After the wound is recovered, it will appear in slightly "pinkish" color and need around 1 to 3 months before it restore to the normal skin tone.
For the moles with larger size and moles with "suspect" nature, doctor will suggest for surgery removal, it is under the microscopic analysis to determine its nature. Congenital mole is suggested to be removed as to minimize the chance of causing cancers.
Attention:
Many people may have misunderstanding on mole and skin cancer. Normally, moles do not affect the health and mainly cause outlook problems. You have doctor consultation immediately once you discover the following abnormal condition on the pigments: irregular shape, changing color, blurry boundary, enlarging size, itchiness and defective.
